![]() ![]() This means that Zoho Free won’t be suitable for businesses with high transaction volumes, and SMEs with serious growth plans should go for a paid plan.Īnother key point is that Zoho Standard comes with bank feed integration – meaning once you’ve linked your business bank account, any transactions you make will automatically appear in Zoho Books. Most notably, the Standard plan lets you create up to 5,000 invoices per year, as opposed to just 1,000 for the Free plan. While Zoho’s free plan is very useful for businesses just starting out, there are some big reasons you should consider signing up for the Standard plan. We’ve taken a closer look at how Zoho’s free plan matches up to its £12 per month (+VAT) Standard plan below. You'll also be automatically upgraded to a paid plan if your annual turnover exceeds £35,000. For one, it’s limited to 1,000 invoices per year, and lacks a number of features that can make a huge difference to the level of debt in which accounting software can help your small business. Zoho offers a free plan, but of course, there are drawbacks. Zoho Books provides a wider range of support options, including live chat and phone support, while QuickFile primarily relies on the forums to provide you with any help you need. ![]() QuickFile on the other hand, which we'll be reviewing next, primarily offers customer support through email and a community forum. On the Free plan, Zoho gives support via email, while its paid plans add assistance via email, phone, and live chat. ![]() Integrate with other Zoho apps and other apps like GSuite, Office 365 and Dropbox.Create, customise and send invoices (up to 1,000 per year). On the free tier, Zoho Books offers all this: In short, it’s a great choice for businesses just starting out. It combines a simple and intuitive interface with powerful features that means, even on the free tier, Zoho Books effortlessly handles all the basics. Zoho Books’ free plan is the best overall choice for free accounting software, though things improve further if you pay out for a premium tier. But the messiness is mainly from me leaping in before looking.Zoho made its name with its CRM systems (check out our Zoho CRM review to learn more) but it has offered accounting software since 2011. It would be nice if there were some more in-your-face tutorials, maybe some hover tips for new users. One issue I have is mostly my fault: When I first started using Wave I didn't know what I was doing, and I ended up creating a whole bunch of client and work type records unnecessarily. There are no major cons that I can think of. For the cash-strapped freelancer, that can be mana from heaven. ![]() For 1% more payment, you can transfer money within minutes. Once someone pays your invoice, the money is in Wave, and takes 2-3 days to transfer. And finally a small but really helpful feature, especially if you're a freelancer just starting out: immediate money transfers. They didn't influence my decision to sign up, but they've proven to be very useful. Wave also provides a host of reporting and tracking tools in this basic account. I've been using Wave for over 3 years, and I have never once been hit with a fee outside of the basic rates. I asked a financial advisor friend of mine before signing up, and she was pleasantly surprised by the low rates, and told me to go for it. There's no subscription or hidden fees, they just take a perfectly reasonable percentage from invoice payments. I have zero background in financial matters, and with Wave that's totally fine. Set up is really simple and the interface is user-friendly. Not only would I recommend Wave to freelancers and small businesses, I have recommended it. Always simple and smooth, and exceptional bang for the buck. As a freelancer, Wave has been indispensable to me. It is one of the few software tools I use regularly where I am happy to open it, and I'm happy to give them their percentage. In 3+ years I don't think I've had to contact support once, nor have I ever considered switching to other tools. ![]()
